# A suggestion in Docs will not accept

Accept does nothing on a suggested block. Check editing access, connection state and whether the proposal is still pending before trying again.

**What you're seeing.** A pending suggestion remains after you accept or reject it, or a notification opens a missing suggestion.

**What it means.** The decision may have failed, another reviewer may have acted, or your access may have changed.

**What to do.** Check the current document, your editing access and your connection before repeating the decision.

**If you do nothing.** Waiting minutes or hours does not accept the proposal; it stays pending until an authorized reviewer records a decision.

## What you see

A suggestion stays in the pending list after you choose **Accept suggestion**
or **Reject suggestion**. A notification may instead open a document where
the named suggestion is no longer present.

## Check the document and your access

Open the document from its channel. Check the current text before repeating
the decision: another reviewer may already have accepted or rejected the
proposal. A missing suggestion alone does not prove the change disappeared.

Confirm that you have editing access. Being able to read a document does not
grant permission to accept or reject its suggestions. Switching the editing
mode cannot grant that permission. Ask a workspace administrator to check
your access when you can only read the document.

## Check the connection

Reconnect before trying again. A stale or offline document cannot complete
a suggestion decision. Wait for the current document to load, then confirm
that the proposal is still pending.

For a document backed by a connected tool, also check the provider's access
and connection. Follow
[A connection failed or lacks a scope](/docs/troubleshooting/a-connection-failed-or-lacks-a-scope/)
when the provider refuses the write.

## If the decision still fails

Keep the document link, the suggestion author and the time of the failure.
Ask your workspace administrator to investigate with that information.
Avoid accepting other proposals to test whether this one succeeded.
