# Join a standup

Enter a recorded standup, read its recording signal and use live captions.

1.
Open the channel’s Standup surface. Check that this is the channel whose
participants should hear the discussion.

(Result: The Standup surface shows its available start or join control.)

1.
Choose Start a standup — recorded and transcribed to start a new standup,
or Join — recorded and transcribed for an existing session. Read the
recording notice before joining. Allow microphone access if the browser asks.

(Result: The application joins the standup or reports why it could not connect.)

1.
Check the Recording signal and Live captions. Use the microphone
control before speaking. A listening-only notice means a host must permit you
to speak.

(Result: The session shows its recording signal and available live captions.)

1.
Choose Leave when finished. Leaving this surface also leaves its session.

(Result: Your participation ends.)

- **If this doesn't work:**
Do not join if recording is inappropriate for the discussion. Use an unrecorded
huddle instead. If joining fails, follow the displayed reason; Try again
appears for retryable failures. The Record destination does not yet open a
finished recording or transcript. Keep necessary written outcomes in the channel.

You joined a standup with explicit recording and transcription signals. Live
captions help during the session; they do not promise a later transcript page.
